DHS Fees for I-600 and I-600A Petitions

Processing of your I-600 or I-600A petition will incur a charge of $525 for the USCIS. If you process your I-600A for a single child (or siblings), and then your I-600 in the next eighteen months, you will only be charged once. If you are adopting more than one child, and they are not siblings, then you will be charged a further $525 per form, for each of the children.

Medical Examination Fee

Before an immigrant visa will be granted by the US Embassy, your child must have had a medical examination from one of the Embassy’s panel physicians. If your child is under the age of 15, this examination should cost approximately $85, and all medical costs must be covered by you and your partner.

If your child is under the age of 10, any vaccinations s/he requires can be put off until you return to the United States. You will be asked to sign an Affidavit, promising to see that the child is vaccinated within thirty days of your return, and this will need to be presented to the physician conducting the child’s exam and attached to the medical report.

U.S. Immigrant Visa Fees

You will be charged $380 for your child’s visa application, and this does not include the medical examination, the DNA testing, certification of documents or processing of your immigration petition. This fee can be paid in the US or in Guatemala. If the latter, you can pay by credit card or in cash, but not with personal, cashier or traveler’s checks. The Embassy will accept all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners, MasterCard Debit and Visa Debit.

Please note that you will usually have to wait until the day after your interview before receiving your child’s visa.
